The Little Miss Oakdale and Evening Miss Oakdale (Deb Miss, Teen Miss, Jr. Miss and Miss) pageants are moving from July to May 14, this year.
Sponsored by the BPW (Business of Professional Women) and Oakdale High School each year, community pageants like Miss Oakdale, choose ambassadors to represent the city. The title offers responsibilities in different degrees for the title holders including development of social and communication skills as well as organizational and scheduling effectively.
The Little Miss pageants will begin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 14, in the auditorium at the Oakdale High School. The Evening Miss pageants will begin at 5 p.m.
The reining 2021-2022 queens are:

•Miss Teen Oakdale Ainslie Willis
•Junior Miss Oakdale Maedan Doyle
•Miss Oakdale Natalie Cope
Kalee Stanley is the Miss Oakdale pageant director. Her co-directors are Danee McCoy and Jessica Felice.
Entry fees
The entry fee for the Jr. Miss and Miss pageants is $100. The fee may be paid for by the contestant or they can seek sponsorship. The other two categories, Deb Miss and Teen Miss will cost $50. Girls, interested in one of the four evening pageants, have until April 14, to register.
The “early bird” registration fee for the Little Miss Oakdale pageant contestants will be $50 each if paid before May 7. After May 7, the cost will be $60 and can be paid at the door on the day of the event.
Pageant clinic set
A pageant clinic will be held Saturday, February 26, for those interested in competing. The cost of the clinic will be $10. It will be held at Oakdale High School from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
The clinic will focus on pageant walk, makeup and hair suggestions, dress requirements, interview tips, answering questions, etc.
Those girls attending the clinic will received $5 off their entry fee if they decide to register that day for the upcoming pageants in May.
First meeting
The first meeting for the May 14, pageant for anyone interested in competing in the pageants should attend the March 28, meeting at Gordon’s Jewelry Store at 530 p.m.
Evening Miss pageants
Those girls wanting to participate in the Deb Miss or Teen Miss pageants must live in Allen Parish.
Jr. Miss candidates must be classified as a freshman or sophomore at Oakdale High School during the 2022-2023 school year.
Candidates for the Miss title must be a junior or senior at Oakdale High School during the 2022-2023 year. The Miss title holder will receive a $500 scholarship once she completes her reign as Miss Oakdale.
Compiling lists
Pageant organizers are compiling lists of former Jr. Miss and Miss Oakdale title holders.
Stanley said organizers know the Miss title started in 1961. She said the Jr. Miss pageants didn’t exist until the 1990s.
She believes the Miss list is either almost completed or completed, but the Jr. Miss list is still underway. Former Miss Oakdale queens may share the names of their Jr. Miss queen if they remember, or Jr. Miss title holders may contribute to the list.
