An Oakdale man is facing various charges after he caused a head-on collision with a school bus on Friday, September 24.
Oakdale Police Chief Chad Doyle said Lee Stalsby was driving a pickup truck Friday morning when he crossed the double yellow line striking a school bus from Allen Parish head-on near the intersection of U.S. 165 and state Highway 1153 North.
There were four students on the bus along with the driver of the bus. There were no serious injuries reported among the occupants on the bus, according to the report, but the driver of the pickup truck was airlifted to an Alexandria hospital. He was later arrested and booked on several charges.
Lee Stalsby, 39, of Oakdale, a white male, was booked in to the parish jail later that day on charges of reckless operation of a motor vehicle, limitations on passing on the left, possession of a controlled dangerous substance (CDS) (Schedule II), and operating a vehicle while intoxicated (four counts), according to Chief Doyle. His bond was set at $145,000.
Doyle said blood was drawn from Stalsby, and at press time, he was expecting additional charges to be filed in the case. He said once the toxicology report was confirmed, he expected the driver to be charged with DUI (driving under the influence) due to the charge associated with CDS.
