Additional arrests result in investigation into September 4, shooting
Additional arrests were made last week in correlation with a shooting that occurred at an area sports bar in Oakdale earlier this month, Oakdale Police Chief Chad Doyle said.
Authorities have charged the bar owner and two patrons in connection with the case for not seeking assistance for the victim, Lonnie Davis, 60. Emmet Perry, 69, the owner of the bar, and Tamekia Arvie, 38, and David Arvie, 41, all of Oakdale, were charged in the case on Tuesday, September 21. The Arvies were hosting a party at the bar that night, according to information in the investigation. Bonds for all three were set at $1,500.
Doyle said the three were allegedly outside the bar following the shooting and subsequently charged.
Joey Holmes, 43, of 1911 Old Tram Road, Oakdale, was arrested Wednesday, September 8, and charged in the murder of Davis. He was booked into the Allen Parish Jail on second-degree murder. On the Friday after the shooting, Holmes was charged with additional charges of obstruction of justice, possession of a firearm by a felon, aggravated assault with a firearm, possession of firearm in an alcoholic beverage outlet and illegal carrying/discharging of weapons. At press time, he remained incarcerated on a bond of $283,000.
The Oakdale Police Department responded to the shooting at 10:38 p.m. on Saturday, September 4, 2021, at the Sports Bar, located at 1006 Highway 372, also known as Ballard Road, Oakdale. Authorities discovered Davis was shot multiple times. He was transferred to the Oakdale Community Hospital and later died from his injuries.
