In unofficial results at press time, Allen Parish residents elected Judi Abrusley as the district judge for the 33rd Judicial District Court, Division A, on Saturday, December 12.
Abrusley received 58 percent of the votes (2,532) against Chad Guidry, who received 42 percent (1,852) of the votes. After the election, Abrusley said, “I am grateful to the people of Allen Parish. They know me, and they know I will always represent who we are on the bench. I will never take the faith and trust they put in me for granted, and I will be a district judge they will be proud of.”
Locally, voters did not support the CA No. 1 (Act 10, 2nd ES – SB 44), which would allow an out-of-state resident to service on a public postsecondary education board of supervisors. Eighty-six percent of the voters in the parish (3,614) voted against the proposition compared to 14 percent for the proposition (586). Statewide, voters also voted against the proposition with 76 percent against it (385,647) and 24 percent for it (118,651).
Voters in the parish also approved renewals in several districts in the parish.

•School District No. 1 – 24.66 Mills Renewal – SB – 10 years: Yes – 56 percent (89 votes) and No – 44 percent (70 votes)
•School District No. 4 – 12.07 Mills Renewal – SB – 10 years: Yes – 61 percent (239 votes) and No – 39 percent (151 votes)
•School District No. 5 – 12.63 Mills Renewal – SB – 10 years: Yes – 53 percent (822 votes) and No – 47 percent (742 votes)
•Fire Protection District No. 2 – 9 Mills Renewal – BOC – 10 years: Yes – 69 percent (194 voters) and No – 31 percent (86 votes )
