On Wednesday, April 22, parishioners with St. Philip Neri Catholic Church surprised Father Keith Pellerin, Deacon Roy Nash and Wendy LaFleur with a drive-by parade of 81 cars, trucks and golf carts.
“They surprised me,” Pellerin said. “They brought me outside to look at something.”
The trio were surprised with signs, horns and sirens and family members holding signs, waving and professing how much they have missed the two men due to the COVID-19 virus and stay-at-home order by the governor.
The parishioners also honored LaFleur for National Administrator’s Week. She is the receptionist/secretary/bookkeeper for the rectory.
He said they were outside when they heard police sirens. He said here came the police car with Brian Fontenot and sirens bringing the parade.
“I thought what was going on in Kinder, and we looked and there were the cars.”
Pellerin said he was able to meet three new parishioners who were born during the stay-at-home order. He said it was great to see everyone.
“It was humbling and overwhelming. It was good.”
Pellerin said, “It was humbling the people took time to come out and offer us love and support. They let us know they were thinking of us. That they remembered us. It was really great.”
