Vehicle totaled by fire in drive-thru

A vehicle fire occurred in the drive-thru at Fred’s Pharmacy Wednesday afternoon, April 1.
Fire Chief Blake LaFargue, Allen Parish Fire District Four, said a customer was waiting in line in the pharmacy’s drive-thru when fire started in the vehicle’s engine area.
The department received the call at approximately 3:53 p.m. Chief LaFargue said. Two trucks, one command and four firefighters responded to the call. No injuries were reported by the vehicle was totaled. He said the fire was quickly engulfed by the flames.
LaFargue would like to remind all residents there is a burn ban in effect statewide until further notice due to the COVID-19 pandemic.
He said for their protection, residents should wear masks, wash their hands regularly and practice soicial distancing by remaining six feet from others.
At this time, the department is shut down but the fire department is maintaining emergency response.
