LONGVILLE – Funeral services for a Kinder man will be Wednesday, March 4, after investigators believe he drowned Saturday after found missing from a barge he was working on at a gravel pit near Longville.
Authorities found the body of Israel J. Spears Jr., 28, at approximately 12:55 p.m. Saturday. The Beauregard Parish Sheriff’s Office responded to a call received around 10 a.m. from a co-worker stating Spears was missing from a dredging barge at the gravel pit where the two had been working.
The co-worker had left to oversee another matter and returned to find Spears missing. Spears’ body was sent to the Calcasieu Parish Coroner’s Office for autopsy before being returned to his family.
