The Allen Parish Police Jury discussed parish business during their February meeting on Monday evening.
Two public hearings were held during the Monday night meeting one was to hear the discussion for dropping the speed limit on Methodist Camp Road from 45 to 35 MPH. There was no one present from the public to discuss. Juror Kent Fontenot mentioned this road was in his district. He said he had spoken with several residents along that road and none seemed to find an issue with the current speed limit. “This road is asphalt and one of the better district roads. I see no reason to lower the speed limit,” Fontenot said.
The jury agreed and decided to not adopt a resolution to lower the speed limit.
The second public hearing was held for the jury to decide on abandoning a no name road leading to the Gary Mahaffey residence off of Mahaffey Road.
There was no public to speak for or against and the jury voted to abandon the road.
