Zack LaFargue broke the school record a few weeks ago when he kicked a 47-yard field goal during the game against DeQuincy on Homecoming Night. The Yellow Jackets won 58-21.
LaFargue did it on his home field during Homecoming. On Facebook™ the Kinder Athletic Booster Club gave a big shout-out to him for his accomplishment. Johnathan Lane Nevils remembered Raul Barrera making a 45 yard field goal and Devaugh Thompson with a 35 yard field goal. They also remembered that Barrera may have attempted a 50-plus field goal but didn’t make it.
Kinder Coach Bret Fuselier said, “He broke the school record for the longest field goal made. I think it was a great moment for Zack. He works extremely hard year round and is very deserving of this accomplishment. His teammates were also extremely excited for him. But in the end I think he would tell you he just wants to do whatever he can to help this team win.”
LaFargue agrees it was a great win for his team. He said when he made the kick, “it was just pure excitement. It felt like a lot of hard work had finally paid off. And seeing all the other players and crowd get excited hyped me up even more. It was truly the greatest feeling of my life.”
And the moment was special for LaFargue. He said, “It really means a lot to me that I was able to make that kick and leave a mark on KHS history because I worked really hard for many years for that one moment. Many long days and hours were spent on that field just for that one moment. Overall the greatest feeling of my life.”
Congratulations to LaFaruge, Coach Fuselier and his team for a great season. The team will face the Rosepine Eagles Friday night in the first round of playoffs. The Yellow Jackets are district champs in District 5-2A.
