Allen Parish saw 1,181 voters cast their ballot in person at the Registrar of Voters Office last week during early voting for the November 16, election, according to Registrar Monica F. Warren.
At press time, Warren had 127 mail ballots on hand for the runoff election.
In October’s election, early voting brought 1,307 residents to the polls. The interest in the runoff election is still strong.
On the November ballot, voters will determine the governor’s race [John Bel Edwards (4), incumbent, and Eddie Rispone(9)] and Secretary of State [Kyle Ardoin (13), incumbent, and Gwen Collins-Greenup (14).]
Depending on where a voter resides, they will choose a police juror for District 4 [Joshua “Josh” Thompson (90) and Creig Vizena (91)].
Three propositions will be on the ballot for residents of Allen Parish. These propositions will appear if the voter falls within the district named.
Propositions on the ballot include:
•Hospital Service District No. 3 (a new proposition for 12 mills for 30 years. The 12 mills tax used to be called for 10 years, but in order to get funding to build new facilities on the hospital campus, a term for 30 years is needed.)
•School District No. 22 (10.23 mills increase to be levied in the first year of issue above the 13.77 mills currently being levied to pay general obligation bonds of the district. This will allow the district to borrow up to $4 million to purchase or improve land and make improvements and/or construct new facilities.)
•Town of Kinder (renew its 1% proposition for 10 years)
Polls for the November 16, election will open at 7 a.m. and close at 8 p.m. For more information, contact the Elections Division by calling 800-883-2805 or emailing elections@sos.la.gov.
