The Alvin L. Nevils Post 244 American Legion Hall in Kinder had a new sign installed recently.
Post Commander Eric Kuyper said in March or April of this year, the old sign finally came down after 10 years. It was weathered and damaged, so members of the American Legion decided to get a more permanent sign for the post.
Kuyper said they contacted Daytrex and Kevin Tyler about printing a metal sign. Designs were discussed and ideas were discussed before the different branches of the local posts agreed on a design.
The sign was designed and Kuyper said David Hillman donated three sheets of plywood for the sign. It is 8 feet by 12 feet.
Dubby Fontenot helped put the sign up.
None of this would be possible without everyone who helped put the idea together and helped erect it.
Everyone hopes the sign will be there for at least 20 years.
