Five contestants will be vying for the Miss Allen Parish title at the 2024 Miss Allen Parish pageants on Saturday, September 7, in Oberlin. Seven young ladies will be competing for the 2024 Jr. Miss Allen Parish title. Those pageants will occur at the end of the day.
The morning will begin with the youth pageants. Throughout the day, the fair association’s royal court for 2024 will be named. Those titles will include Tiny King Master Allen Parish (0-23 months), Master King Allen Parish (2-3 years), Baby Jr./Miss Allen Parish (0-11 months), Tiny Jr./Miss Allen Parish (12-23 months), Toddler Jr./Miss Allen Parish (2-3 years), Petite Jr./Miss Allen Parish (4-5 years), Little Jr./Miss Allen Parish (6-8 years), Deb Jr./Miss Allen Parish (9-12 years) and Ms. Allen Parish (22 years old, single, married or divorced).
Lexie Noelle Sonnier, 2023 Miss Allen Parish, will be passing her title on to the next queen, along with Jr. Miss Allen Parish Samantha Deshotels.
Miss Allen Parish title
Those candidates for the 2024 Miss Allen Parish title will include, in alphabetical order, Samantha Deshotels, Makenna Lavan, Marlee Rosas, Suna Sonsuz and Lillian Faith Young.
•Deshotels is a sophomore at Kinder High. She is the daughter of Sherrie and David Deshotels and granddaughter of Beverly Thomas and the late Baron Thomas and Carolyn Deshotels and the late Errol Deshotels. Her hobbies include cheering at KHS, dance, showing pigs and boat riding. Her awards include A/B honor roll, ninth grade livestock judging in the state in FFA and 13 years of dance study.
•Lavan, a senior at Oberlin High, is the daughter of Melanie Brown and Kendrick Lavan. She is the granddaughter of Marvie Brown and Alfred and Elmira Lavan. Her hobbies include cheerleading, spending time with family and friends and photography. Awards include cheer captain award (three years), All American Cheerleader (two years), honor roll award, CIW certifications (three of them), Python coding Certification, Suicide Awareness Certificate, Student Council Officer Award, third place in English Literacy Rally Award (two years).
•Rosas is the daughter of Hardy and Katrena Rosas. She is a senior at Kinder High. She is the granddaughter of Ted and Mary Captain. Her hobbies include Francis G. Bulbur Youth Orchestra, president Beta Club, vice president of the 4-H Junior Leader Club, 4-H Club, FBLA, reading, shopping and baking. Awards include Banner Roll, Freshman Maid, Gold K Award, Superior in Journalism test (FBLA) and organizational leadership.
•Sonsuz, a senior at Oberlin High, is the daughter of Cemal Sonsuz and Kodie Fontenot. She is the granddaughter of Teresa Fontenot and Winkie Fontenot. Her hobbies include varsity softball captain, working out, dancing and tumbling and being a basketball manager. She is a member of Saint Joan of Arc Youth group and 4-H Club. Her awards include OHS Freshman maid, three year All-American Cheerleader, varsity Cheer Captain, 1-A All District Softball honorable mention and A-B honor roll.
•Young is a junior at Plainview High School. She is the daughter of Billy and Danielle Young and granddaughter of Dennis and Glynda Young. Her hobbies include basketball, softball, reading, playing with her nieces and nephews and hanging out with her sisters. Awards include 2023 and 2024 Homecoming Court, 2022 Class B Basketball State Champions, 2023 Class B Basketball State Runners-Up, 2024 Class C Basketball Semi-Finalists.
Jr. Miss Allen Parish title
Those candidates for the 2024 Miss Allen Parish title will include, in alphabetical order, Tatum Paige Bazinet, Sophie Bruchhaus, Jacey Layn Hoffpauir, Addison Jayde Johnson, Emersyn Kingrey, Carlee Marie Pitre and Kinsey Williams.
•Bazinet, the daughter of Mickey and Jordan Bazinet, is a freshman at Kinder High. She is the granddaughter of Robert Thomas and Michael and Leliah Bazinet. Her hobbies include dancing, tumbling, babysitting, bedazzling clothes and shoes, shopping, track and field and riding the golf cart. Her awards include honor roll, Good Behavior Award, All American Cheer Nominee and UDA Drill Downs Dance Award.
•Bruchhaus is the daughter of Billie and Donnie Bruchhaus. She is a sophomore at Kinder High. She is the granddaughter of Donnie Sr. and Jeanne Bruchhaus and Keith and Mona Daigle. Hobbies include hosting Bible studies with friends, running a photography business and showing livestock. She said this is three things that she enjoys. Awards include State FFA Creed speaking Champion, Area Three FFA vice president, regional finalist in javelin and the 800-meter run in track and field for Class 3A. These are three awards she received this past year.
•Hoffpauir, a sophomore at Kinder High, is the daughter of Heather and Doyle Hoffpauir. She is the granddaughter of Tereasa Doyal and Oswal Doyal. “My hobbies are dancing, baking, cooking and spending time with family. I have numerous dance awards, as well as being an A-B honor roll in school. For Danceline, I received the All-American Award and the Pin it Forward Award.”
•Johnson is a sophomore at Fairview High School. She is the daughter of Chris Wilson and Rheanna Wilson (step-mother) and Kaitlynn Pitts and Quade Pitts (step-father). She is the granddaughter of Bridgette and Jody Henry, Dusty and Casey Johnson, Amanda and Paul Odom, Tony Pitts and Angie Odom. Her hobbies include singing, cheerleading and playing piano. Awards include Citizenship Award, Performance Award for Cheerleading, GPA Award for maintaining a 3.5 or above.
•Kingrey is the daughter of Kenneth and Somer Kingrey and granddaughter of Terry and Dianne Richard and Ken and Paula Kingrey. She is a ninth grade student at Kinder High. She enjoys cheering, baking, shopping, hunting and being with family and friends. Awards include 4.0 GPA, Eighth Grade Allen Parish Student of the Year, Perfect ELA Leap Score and academic awards in ELA, science and social studies.
•Pitre, daughter of Michael and Courtney Pitre, is a sophomore at Fairview High School. She is the granddaughter of Gary and Carleen Mahaffey, James and Melinda Meser and the late Paul Pitre. Hobbies include cheering and serving as a member of 4-H, FCA, Beta, Allen Parish Jr. Leaders and the Louisiana 4-H Food and Fitness Board. She also likes riding four-wheelers, swimming and spending time with family and friends. Awards include 2023 FHS Eighth Grade Student of the Year, Eighth Grade Allen Parish Student of the Year and Eighth Grade Region Seven Student of the Year; third place at 4-H University Healthy Living Illustrated Talk, multiple academic awards and selected as a member of the 23-24 Louisiana 4-H Food and Fitness Board.
•Williams, a ninth grade student at Fairview High School is the daughter of Melissa Williams and Jeremy Williams. Her grandparents are Dina Eaves, Cindy Williams and Ned Williams. Her hobbies include playing softball in the spring, hanging out with family and friends and doing her hair and makeup. Awards include 300 point club for softball.
