Leaders in Reeves community met in August and learned the bid for the village’s new town hall from K&J Development of Lake Charles was accepted. The village’s town hall was damaged by Hurricane Laura. With monies collected from FEMA, etc. the village’s cost will be $350,000. The total projected cost is $1.1 million. The village also reached out to Senator Heather Cloud and Representative Dewitt Carrier and will receive about $50,000 through appropriations.
Mayor Chris Guillory informed the council the company putting fiber optic lines down went through the village’s sewer line. It had to be fixed.
In other business, the council:
•Learned the hospital clinic will begin painting the building soon and opening date should be in September 2024.
•Accepting minutes from July 1, meeting.
•Accepted all financial reports.
After the meeting, when asked about the postal service, the mayor said he heard everything was still moving forward. He expected to see construction of boxes soon.
