The Allen Parish Sales Tax Collection report for May 2024 showed deficits in five accounts in the monthly comparison and yearly comparison, similar to what April’s report indicated. The month-to-month comparisons between 2023 and 2024 showed an increase of 1.56 percent in totals while the year-to-date comparisons had an overall increase of 8.38 percent.
The accounts showing increase collections in the report included the Allen Parish School Board #1 and #2, Allen Parish School Board #3, Allen Parish Police Jury (Solid Waste) and Allen Parish Sheriff’s District. In monthly comparisons, Oberlin, Elizabeth and Oakdale saw an increase in collection, but year-to-date showed Kinder and Oakdale were the only two incorporated areas showing increase.
Monthly comparisons showed:

•Allen Parish School Board #3 (increase of $6,585.67 (2.26 percent)
•Allen Parish Police Jury (increase of $4,610.04 (2.26 percent)
•Town of Kinder (decrease of $92.48 (0.17 percent)
•Town of Oberlin (increase of $228.82 (1.34 percent)
•Town of Elizabeth (increase of $400.83 (6 percent)
•City of Oakdale (increase of $2,311.48 (1.79 percent)
•Town of Kinder Library/Sewerage (decrease of $27.71 (0.17 percent)
•Allen Parish Occupancy Tax (decrease of $1,418.57 (40.50 percent)
•Allen Parish Tourist Commission (decrease of $4,255.66 (40.50 percent)
•Allen Parish Sheriff District (increase of $6,585.68 (2.26 percent)
•Reeves (decrease of $2,813.82 (51.18 percent)
