The fourth Annual Allen Parish Juneteenth Event and Parade will be Saturday, June 15, in Oberlin at the Allen Parish Civic Center. There will be vendors, guest speakers, giveaways and more beginning at 1 p.m.
This year’s theme is African-Americans and the Arts.
The parade will start at 6 p.m. Line-up starts at 5 p.m. on the Allen Parish Fair Grounds following the Juneteenth event at the Allen Parish Civic Center. The grand marshal is Mrs. Equilla Victorian. Everyone is welcome. There is no registration fee. The parade will welcome side-by-sides, four wheelers, horses, church group floats, businesses, dance groups, sports teams, pageant queens and kings, bands, elected officials, Allen Parish Alumni classes and party trailers.
Organizers said, “Let’s make this a parade to remember! If you can’t put an entry in the parade, make sure to bring your family out to enjoy the parade down Main St., in Oberlin and catch some treats!”
