Mrs. Equilla Victorian has been named the grand marshal for the 2024 Juneteenth Parade and Festival set for June 15, in Oberlin.
Victorian is a native of Kinder. However, she has lived in Oberlin for 41 years. She is married to Henry Victorian and is the mother of two daughters, Temisha Victorian and Clara Baty. She also is the grandmother to four grandchildren, Dylan Sonnier, Anaya Sonnier, Malia Baty and Myla Baty. She is a member of St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church and has been affiliated with the Allen Parish Fair Association since 2003 where she has served as a board member, pageant chairman and parade chairman.
On February 8, 2009, Victorian was sworn in as the 2009 – 2010 president of the Louisiana Association Fairs and Festivals. Prior to her presidency, Victorian served the festival board in other positions, including one year as the 2008 vice president, Queen of Queens co-director from 2007-2009 and District 2 director from 2004 to 2007.
The Louisiana Association of Fairs and Festivals (LAFF) educates event organizers and encourages them to hold fairs and festivals while adopting a program to showcase and promote Louisiana’s finest industries. Some of these industries include agriculture, dairy, livestock, commercial and educational arts. LAFF also supports the advancement of natural resources, material prosperity and the overall progress of the State of Louisiana.
Victorian is currently a member the Louisiana Pageant Judges Association where she holds the position of vice president.
Victorian is honored to be selected as the 2024 Juneteenth Grand Marshall and invites everyone to come out to the Allen Parish Civic Center on June 15, to enjoy some fun, food, fellowship and all events that are scheduled.
