Superintendent Brad Soileau’s report to the Allen Parish School Board included employee changes, dates for summer learning, end of school dates and a variety of information from around the district.
Soileau named Melody LaFleur as the new Title I Coordinator and Shannon Campbell as the new Title I secretary. LaFleur, who has been serving Kinder High as principal, said she was sad about leaving KHS but excited about the new opportunities she would be facing.
The superintendent noted the literacy summer learning would be June 3, to June 14, onsite for the school’s grades second to fourth. High school credit recovery would be June 3, to June 28, onsite. The last day of school for students is May 22, and for teachers, May 23.
Soileau said the board is advertising for principals at OkMS (Oakdale Middle) and KHS (Kinder High) and assistant principal at ObES (Oberlin Elementary).
In other business, the board:
•Received an update on testing and other preparations to meet upcoming guidelines.
•Learned next year, students not meeting DIBELS benchmarks set will require additional hours in the classroom.
•Learned employee badges would be distributed for the 2024-25 school year.
•Learned red panic buttons had been placed for emergencies in the schools.
•Approved the April 8, minutes.
•Approved paying bills by the finance committee.
•Authorized Soileau to advertise for an official journal for the 2024-25 fiscal year.
•Approved new policy DEA – debit services and policy revisions for school board ethics and Title VII employee sexual harassment.
•Approved an ITEP (Industrial Tax Exemption Program) application for Boise Cascade.
•Approved an out-of-state trip for Megan LaFargue, Michelle Willis, Penny Sweat and Kim Lenhart.
