Allen Parish residents should find their Fox station on Sunday, January 28, and cheer on Kinder native Brittany Leger Khamille.
Brittany will be joining the Next Level Chef television cooking show on Sunday night. In its third season, the show will begin on a different note this Sunday. The show will feature 24 contestants, and only 15 will advance to the fourth episode where the contest begins.
Katie Lewis, a member of the PR team for the show, explained in the first episode, social media chefs will be participating for a shot to cook on the series. This is the part where Brittany will be featured. The second episode will feature home chefs, and the third week will feature pro chefs. Each week, five contestants will be chosen to compete. The competition will officially begin among those 15 contestants on the fourth episode.
Brittany, who began cooking during the pandemic in late 2020 and sharing her thoughts and dishes on Tik Tok has steadily grown her audience. She also authored a cookbook. In December, she made the following announcement on her social media account.
“I’ve been keeping a secret. I’m excited to finally announce that I was selected and given the chance to compete on Season Three of Next Level Chef on Fox. I can’t say thank you enough to all of y’all – without each of you, this opportunity wouldn’t exist. Love y’all more than slap and garlic. See ya in January.”
Brittany graduated from Kinder High in 2015 and McNeese in 2018. Her parents are Voorhies and Beatrice Leger. She and her husband Peter live north of Allen Parish with their two-year-old son. She works as a full-time clerk. She said when the show reached out to her, she began the process. She said her biggest supporter, her dad, encouraged her.
With the help of her husband and a best friend and some vacation time from work, Brittany was able to arrange her schedule to compete in the competition. She said her best friend and husband will be taking care of the baby while she prepares to face some cooking battles on the Next Level Chef.
Since finding out she would be on the show, she has been doing some prep work. She has spent a lot of time in the kitchen refining her skills. She said it can be intimidating, but so many, like her father, believe she has it in her to meet this challenge. She is interested in finding out what is going to happen. She also looks forward to seeing how the contestants react to each other.
She’s hoping to show the chefs what she can do. She’s also excited about the possibilities that are opening up for her as a chef.
“My goal is to see how important it is to take a leap of faith,” she said. By listening to her biggest fans, she made the decision to participate in the show and feels confident she can survive and maybe learn some new things herself. She said it would be insane to go in close-minded.
“I feel good. I’m excited,” she said. “I’m just excited to see what comes from it.”
The reason I’m doing it, is because my dad pushed me to do it. Brittany said her dad told her to do something on a bigger scale. She said her dad said no matter how it goes, it’s important to take a leap of faith. It’s important, because she is capable of doing it.”
She said her family and friends believe in her. And if they believe in her, it strengthens her faith in herself. She said they believe she is capable of doing this challenge, and that encouragement helps her move forward.
It is important to her. It gives her support for the competition, and she’s hoping to open her mind in the kitchen and to utilize her skills. “I’m so open to learning how to do things better,” she said.
“I’m very grateful. I’m excited for the experience and to see what doors open.”
“The support of my hometown is incredible to see. It’s a nice compliment already,” she explained. And she’s inviting everyone to watch the show and support her.
Go Brittany!
