The Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office is actively investigating a shooting incident that transpired within the city limits of Oberlin on Wednesday, December 13, 2023. The incident has resulted in the arrest of a juvenile, who now faces charges of attempted murder, juvenile in possession of a firearm and committing a crime of violence with a firearm.
Preliminary findings indicate that earlier on Wednesday, the juvenile was followed from a local convenience store by Naudia Melder, which lead to a verbal altercation. After the verbal altercation, all persons left the area.
Subsequently, the situation escalated in the day, and Melder arrived at the property of the juveniles’ family and the shooting incident occurred. No injuries have been reported from the shooting.
As part of the ongoing investigation, detectives have taken into custody Naudi Melder, a resident of Oberlin. Melder has been arrested on charges of stalking, inciting a felony and contributing to the delinquency of juveniles.
The investigation is ongoing and other arrests are expected.
