Sales tax collection report for August features a mixture of positive growth and some negative downfall with fewer dollars collected.
The police jury, school board, sheriff’s district saw increases while Oberlin, Oakdale, the occupancy tax and tourist commission saw decreases in the month-to-month comparisons. In the year-to date comparisons, the only increases occurred for the jury, school board and sheriff’s district.
The #1 and #2 districts for the school board saw an increase of 46.53 percent or a change of $258,385.16 in month-to-date comparisons. The school district #3 and the jury’s solid waste district had a 46.25 percent change ($128,660.44 and $90,062.45, respectively).
The Town of Kinder saw an increase of $1,767.89 (3.28 percent). Elizabeth had an increase of $350.42 or 5.68 percent. Kinder’s library/sewage saw an increase of $530.16 or 3.28 percent. Reeves saw an increase of $1,698.84 or 39.58 percent.
Monthly comparison decreases occurred in Oberlin ($679.31 or -4.48 percent), Oakdale ($680.20 or -0.54 percent), the parish occupancy tax ($1,640.80 or -36.92 percent) and the tourist commission ($4,922.35 or -36.92 percent).
