The First Annual Hayden HoofBeat Haven 2023/Rescue Trail Ride, which began in Oakdale, was held Saturday, July 29.
The HoofBeat event was held to raise money for animals in need of rescue. For $25, supporters rode either horses or horse drawn wagons/buggies on Saturday. They rode through 10 miles of woods. For lunch, everyone enjoyed BBQ burgers, a bag of chips and a drink.
Organizers, like Melinda Lambright, explained the group will rescue horses, donkeys, goats, sheep, pigs and cattle when called upon. Any donation is appreciated to the 501c Rescue group. If you want to learn more, please call 318-306-3056.
The group would like to thank the following for helping with this event.
•Craig and Susan Jones of Jones and Hill Law Firm for helping to check in and park everyone. The Jones and the owners of Jewel’s Quick Stop helped to provide lunch. The Jones donated drinks, their time for registration and assisted with developing the 501c.
•Liz Joubert Welch and Mike Welch with Jewels Quick Stop for the great tasting sausage sandwiches and chips.
•Melinda Lambright and Heath Lambright with H&H Land Management for the shirts and DJ on the wagon.
•Difyd Land Management, owned by Nathan and Sheena Clark, were thanked for driving the wagon and helping with the horses.
•Rachel Cezar-Martínez for coming out and checking coggins and making sure everyone’s horses’ needs where met for the ride.
•Angie Spears with Yum Yum Daiquiri for the use of the party wagon.
•Keri Wilson-Graham with Cowlicks Hair Salon for the use of her canopy.
•Shannon Beauclair Barefoot Trimming for making sure the horses’ feet where ready for the ride.
“Some of the animals in this ride came from the rescue program. Some are still awaiting adoption.” Lambright said, “It was great to see the ones that where with their families; getting to live their best life and knowing they truly got a second chance and did not end up on the killpen lot. This right here made my day to know I truly am making a difference and to know I have a whole community backing me in what I believe in. Y’all stay tuned; we are already planning one for next year. It’ll be closer to the beginning of the year so it will be cooler so get them horses ready!”
The group is planning the second ride in March of 2024 when it will be cooler. Lambright said it will be done as a Mardi Gras ride. She said they may participate in a country ride for Christmas. She said the winter ride was not set in stone yet.
Brittany Ware is the chairperson of this project. Lambright assists her when she can. You can reach either person to learn more at
