Two structure fires are under investigation for arson, according to Reeves Fire Chief Michael Dotson Jr.
The Reeves Fire Department responded to two fires on Monday, January 9, and one on Saturday, January 7, all in the same area, according to Dotson. The fires on Monday were suspicious in nature and appeared to be arson.
Dotson said there was no electricity/power at the two structures on Monday. He said in his 30 years as a firefighter, he has never had a double structure fire simultaneously. On Monday, at 9:01 a.m., the call went out. Both structures were located on Emma Avenue – one a brick home and one a trailer house. He said the structures were engulfed when the firefighters arrived. No injuries were reported because no one was inside. The structures were unoccupied.
The fires were extinguished about 11 a.m., and Reeves received assistance from Kinder, Coushatta and Fire District Two in Beauregard Parish. The investigation was turned over to the Louisiana Fire Marshal’s Office.
The fire call on Saturday, also was on Emma Street, at 8:42 a.m. No injuries were reported to the public or to firefighters, Dotson said.
