The Kinder softball team had a season to remember.
The Yellow Jackets claimed the district championship and advanced to the Class 2A semifinals. Not surprising then that Kinder took top honors on the All-District 5-2A softball teams.
Not only did Kinder freshman pitcher Bri Fontenot earn first-team honors but was also selected as Most Valuable Player. Yellow Jackets head coach Haley Landry was chosen as the Coach of the Year.
Fontenot was joined on the first team by freshman pitcher Sam Hayes, sophomore second baseman Cicily Hill, senior third baseman Asia Richard, sophomore utility player Hillari Shuff and junior utility player Hadley Lemons.
Kinder also placed multiple players on the second team.
Sophomore pitcher Emily Young, sophomore first baseman Sam Dupont, junior utility player Ellie Buller and junior utility player Megan Fuselier.
Kinder’s Ava Fruge and Emily Vidrine received honorable mention honors.
Kinder wasn’t the only team from Allen Parish to have players earn all-district honors.
Oakdale placed four players on the All-District 5-2A softball teams.
Warriors freshman outfielder Kaylee Bradley earned first-team accolades. Oakdale freshman pitcher Macy Ballard and freshman utility player Kinslee Monk received second-team honors.
Oberlin had multiple players earn District 4-1A honors.
Tigers junior pitcher Emma Johnson, junior outfielder Chloe Peloquin, senior utility player Lakin Alexander and junior utility player Cadence Johnson earned first-team honors.
Sophomore shortstop Masie Cole and freshman outfielder Sage Wolfe picked up second-team honors. Junior Cloee Bertrand and seventh grader Carlee Manuel received honorable mention honors.
Fairview and Elizabeth High Schools put multiple players on the District 5-B teams.
Fairview senior pitcher Rylee Cloud earned first-team honors while also being selected as District MVP. Cloud was joined on the first team by sophomore utility player Ella Reeves, eighth grade utility player Andee Stanley, and freshman utility player Malee Stanley.
Fairview’s Bella Smith, Reesie Jinks and A.J. Williams earned second team honors.
Elizabeth junior Adri Johnson, freshman outfielder Kale Cloud and freshman utility player Taylor Willis were selected to the first team. Elizabeth’s Marley VanZant and Ainsley Lee were named to the second team.
Reeves meanwhile had two softball players earn District 5-C honors with junior Kyndal Gill and senior Lanie Richard both receiving first-team accolades.
