October’s sales tax collections for Allen Parish showed decreases in both the monthly comparisons (-23.4 percent down) and yearly comparisons (-1.08 percent). Over the last few months, monthly comparisons have been down in some accounts, but the yearly numbers were always ‘black’ making the report still in a positive mode.
The only accounts showing increases in the monthly comparisons were Kinder (18.87 percent), Oberlin (27.74 percent), Oakdale (29.80 percent) and Town of Kinder Library/Sewage (18.87 percent) The remaining collection accounts were all running in the red with three school board accounts and the sheriff’s district all running 28.44 percent in the black.
A look at the yearly comparisons saw smaller percentage decreases. Most were under two percent including the overall total of -1.08 percent. The three school board and sheriff’s accounts all were about -1.64 percent.
In those yearly totals, Kinder (4.88 percent), Oberlin (1.03 percent) and Kinder/Library Sewage (5.06 percent) were in the black.
Only two months remain as 2025 nears. Remember to look locally each day and shop as often as you can locally. This will help generate more tax dollars for Allen Parish.
