Overall, August’s report of the parish’s sales tax collections looks better than the red the parish saw in July.
In July, the parish saw a decrease of 10.30 percent ($195,239.88 less collected in the month-to-month comparisons.) The parish’s yearly comparisons showed a 5.33 percent increase for $652,294.99 when comparing 2023 collections to 2024 collections.
August’s collection saw an increase of 15.93 percent in the month-to-month comparison ($1,690,189.02 to $1,959,376.30) and 6.62 percent in the year-to-date comparisons ($14,840,859.05)
The accounts in the monthly comparisons showed decreases in the occupancy tax and tourist commission (-27.59 percent) and in Reeves (-15.46 percent).
