OBERLIN – Entry forms for the Second Annual Allen Parish Fair Pageant can be found around the parish, and a meeting for Jr. and Miss Allen Parish contestants will be held at 6 p.m., Tuesday, July 9.
The pageant will be Saturday, September 7, in the Allen Parish Civic Center in Oberlin. There will be two divisions for boys: Tiny King Master Allen Parish 0-23 months and Master King Allen Parish 2-3 years.
In the girls’ Jr. and Miss Children’s Division, there will be several queens crowned, including two queens for each division. Those divisions will include Baby Jr./Miss Allen Parish (0-11 months), Tiny Jr./Miss Allen Parish (12-23 months), Toddler Jr./Miss Allen Parish (2-3 years), Petite Jr./Miss Allen Parish (4-5 years), Little Jr./Miss Allen Parish (6-8 years), Deb Jr./Miss Allen Parish (9-12 years) and Ms. Allen Parish (22 years old, single, married or divorced).
Registration for age divisions zero to eight will begin at 8:30 a.m. on the day of the pageant, September 7. Competition will begin at 9:30 a.m. Registration for divisions, nine to Ms. category will begin at 11 a.m. The competition will start at 12:30 p.m. You must be in line when your pageant is called. They will not wait, and there will be no refunds. Everyone pays to enter the pageant except the contestant and visiting queens.
Children’s entry fee is $60, photogenic $5 and score sheet $5 (for divisions above). No entry fees and/or forms will be accepted at the door. Deadline to accept entry fees and forms will be August 24. Forms must be received by midnight on August 24; not mailed by deadline date. All entry fees are non refundable after pageant registration is completed at midnight on August 24. Make money orders or checks out to Allen Parish Fair Association. Attire for the pageant will be Sunday’s best for zero to eight years of age. Age appropriate hair and makeup will be allowed. No glitz! Pageant wear for nine years and older.
Contestants must bring a photo on the day of the pageant. Please pick up photos after judging. The pageant organizers will not be responsible for lost or stolen photos. Photos can be no larger than 8×10 and no glass frame. Up to two photos can be entered. Turn in photos to Mrs. Jocelyn Artis at registration.
Those wishing to have their scores must submit a self-addressed envelope and $5 with your entry fee/form.
Kings and queens need to be available for a live media interview and will be introduced at the Miss Allen Parish Pageant, Rodeo, fair’s ribbon cutting ceremony, Senior Citizens’ Day and will ride on the Allen Parish Fair float for the fair’s parade. Parents will have to sign a waiver. Parents of younger kings and queens will have to ride on the float with them. Each queen and king will have to provide one poster with title and throws.
