Astro Camp is July 22-26
Chiara Cross Crawford is facilitating Astro Camp again this summer. All children, who just finished fourth or fifth grade and enjoy science, making crafts and doing experiments should sign up. The camp will be held July 22, to July 26, beginning at 9:30 a.m. each day at the Allen Parish Media Center.
Stem and Robotics is July 15-19
The Stem and Robotics Camp, for students who have completed sixth to eighth grade, will be held July 15, to July 19, at the Allen Parish Media Center.
Summer reading to start in June
The Allen Parish Library’s summer reading program will kick off June 4, at the Oakdale branch; June 5, at the Oberlin’s branch; and June 6, at the Kinder branch. The theme is “A Safari of Stories.”

Summer feeding program
begins June 4th
The Allen Parish School Board will be participating in the USDA’s Summer Food Service Program beginning on June 4. All area children, ages 18 years of age and younger, are eligible to receive a free weekly meal kit box that contains seven breakfast meals and seven lunch meals with individually packed shelf-stable drink and food items. Products will include name brand items such as Nesquick, Kellogg’s, Ocean Spray, Tostitos and Libby’s. All of the items are non-perishable and convenient for a child to open and eat, no cooking required.

Meal boxes will be handed out each Tuesday by school food service staff from 7:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. in the circle driveways at KHS (front of the school), OKHS (parking lot to the right of the school) and OBHS (cafeteria/bus drop off parking lot).
EBT program
underway
Louisiana will participate in the SUN Bucks program, also known as Summer EBT, for school-aged children this summer, helping to provide more nutritious meals to students during the summer months.
Each eligible child will receive a single payment of $120 for the summer, with benefits being issued in multiple phases beginning in June. Most eligible families will get SUN Bucks automatically, but some parents will need to apply.

Bus driver training set
