After a few months of some positive activity among Allen Parish’s sales tax collection comparison reports, April indicated some decreases in both monthly and yearly comparisons.
In the monthly comparisons, those seeing “red” (a decrease in collections) included the school board’s #1 and #2 account ($50,500.29 or 6.97 percent), school board’s #3 account ($25,249.77 or 6.97 percent), police jury’s solid waste ($17,675.02 or 6.97 percent), Kinder ($4,220.96 or 6.59 percent), Oberlin ($3,337.52 or 16.49 percent), Elizabeth ($3,812.51 or 35.10 percent), Kinder Library/Sewage ($1,266.21 or 6.59 percent), occupancy tax ($1,706.98 or 36.80 percent), tourist commission ($5,120.97 or 36.80 percent) and sheriff’s account ($25,249.77 or 6.97 percent). Only Oakdale ($3,238.79 or 2.23 percent) and Reeves ($2,357.24 or 60.90 percent) saw positive growth.
Overall, Allen Parish saw $132,543.97 (6.68 percent) less in monthly comparisons between 2023 and 2024 during the same time period. In yearly comparisons, the parish is ahead in the collection game. This year, 2024, has seen an increase of $706,678.70 (9.92 percent) when compared to the first four months in 2023.
