The Allen Parish Library system’s van will hit the road in April. Monday visits are alternated between the Kinder Nursing Home, Head Start and home deliveries on the first, third and fifth Monday of the month with Oberlin Nursing Home and Fairview home deliveries on the second and fourth Monday.
Tuesday’s alternating locations are Kinder Hospital and the Reeves Water District Office on the first, third and fifth Tuesday. Fairview High School is the second and fourth Tuesday.
Wednesday’s schedule includes home deliveries, Oakdale Head Start, Oakdale Nursing Home and Greater Hayes Church on the first and third Wednesday. The Soileau Fire Station and Oberlin’s Adam’s Park will be visited on the second and fourth Wednesday.
Thursdays includes a visit to the prison, Elizabeth School and Elizabeth Park on the first and third Thursday of the month. The Coushatta E.D. Building is on the schedule on the second and fourth Thursday.
All times and visits can change due to circumstances like weather, etc. Be sure to check with your branch.
Bookmark Design
From April 1, to April 23, the library will host a Bookmark Design Contest. The project is related to the summer reading program’s theme, “Safari of Stories.” One winner will be named from three different age categories; zero to eight, nine to 12 and 13 to 18 years of age.

Teen Murder
Mystery
There will be a Teen Murder Mystery Party on Wednesday, April 3. Signup is at any parish branch at the circulation desk. From 12 noon to 4 p.m., teens will try to solve the case by looking through evidence and working together to find the killer. Signups are required at all branches. Black Out Poetry
On Thursday, April 4, from 3 to 4 p.m. at all branches, there will be BlackOut Poetry. Libraries will welcome Tweens, ages nine to 12 years of age, to unleash their creativity by blacking out words from old magazines and books to create a unique poem. For more information, call 1-800-960-3015.
