Statewide, President Joseph R. Biden Jr. carried the Democratic Party with 86 percent of the vote (143,371 votes) unofficially at press time. Marianne Williamson received five percent of the vote (7,898) and the rest of the candidates received one to three percent. Sixty-four parishes cast a ballot for the Democratic Party’s presidential nominee on the Saturday, March 23, election. Voter turnout was at 14.6 percent unofficially with 166,599 votes cast. There are 4,431 qualified Democrat voters.
Allen Parish residents gave Biden the lead with 67 percent of the vote (243 votes). Only 8.2 percent (364 votes) of registered Democrats cast a ballot.
Republicans statewide had an unofficial turnout of 19 percent of voters or 192,131. Top vote getter was former president Donald J. Trump with 90 percent (172,474 votes). The second top vote getter was Nikki Haley with seven percent of the vote (13,119 votes). The rest of the field of candidates received zero to two percent of the votes cast during the election.
Approximately 21.2 percent of registered Republicans cast their ballot (1,064 votes). Trump was the top vote getter with 95 percent of the vote (1,011 votes). There are 5,017 qualified Republican voters.
Parishwide, Allen Parish residents decided to renew six millages for the Allen Parish School Board for an additional 10 years:
•Parishwide 5.15 mills were approved by 75 percent (1,293 votes) compared to 25 percent casting negative votes (439 votes).
•Ward One 5.73 mills were approved by 67 percent (197 votes) compared to 33 percent casting negative votes (97 votes).
•District Three 8.74 mills were approved by 59 percent (130 votes) compared to 41 percent casting negative votes (92 votes).
•District No. 4-A — 23.08 mills were approved by 77 percent (194 votes) compared to 23 percent casting negative votes (59 votes).
•District 5 — 7.6 mills were approved by 78 percent (341 votes) compared to 22 percent casting negative votes (97 votes).
•District No. 25 — 5.65 mills were approved by 77 percent (328 votes) compared to 23 percent casting negative votes (100 votes).
