The Kinder Council gave Mayor Wayland LaFargue the authority to work with the town engineer (Wesley Miller) to pursue funding for upgrades in the town at Monday’s meeting.
The first resolution approved authorized the mayor to work with the engineer to develop a LGAP (Louisiana Government Assistance Program) application. Miller said this application would be for $35,000 to replace water lines. The second resolution sought would be with CWEF (Community Water Enrichment Fund), also $35,000, to repair water lines.
The third grant the mayor and Miller will be working to submit for funding will be through DOTD (Department of Transportation and Development) to put a walking sidewalk path along Highway 383. Miller said this grant would be fully funded if awarded. LaFargue explained this project would pour sidewalk from Market Basket to 17th St. on the southside of Highway 383.
Miller said the town did not receive the funding for its second phase of street improvements.
Miller also updated the council that the Nixon drainage project is underway and should be completed by mid March.
The project at the sewer treatment plant is about 40 percent completed. The levies have been completed and most of the concrete work is done. Now the project will move forward to build a synthetic modular cover for the project.
The council approved its minutes for its January 8, meeting.
There was no other business and the council adjourned.
