The Town of Oberlin, under the direction of Mayor Larry Alexander, had a very successful cleanup day on Saturday, October 28, 2023.
There were 35 to 40 volunteers that participated from 8 a.m. until 12 noon. Volunteers spread out into all districts within the town, collecting 50 to 60 bags full of litter that had been thrown into the streets and ditches.
The Town of Oberlin wants to give full recognition to everyone who contributed to The Town of Oberlin’s Keep Louisiana Beautiful Cleanup Day:
•Camron Langley hosted the Cleanup Day at the American Legion Hall, Post 144 in Oberlin.
•Mrs. Brenda Byrd corresponded with the Allen Parish Community Healthcare Hospital of Kinder that provided the lunch after the event was completed.
•Matthew Hebert of H.E. Enterprises LLC donated all of the beverages for the volunteers during the event, as well as for lunch.
•The town’s grant writer, Carl Capone, ensured that all grant requirements were completed for a successful cleanup day for the betterment of the community, along with giving full support in his participation during the cleanup day.
In Spring of 2024, another cleanup day will be hosted. However the date has not been confirmed yet, according to Oberlin’s leaders. A special thank you was issued to the town’s honorable volunteer, Mrs. Catherine Carlisle, who came out to assist in the cleanup day. The town thanked her for her dedication and support in seeing the community thrive, according to Hailey Champagne, town clerk.
