The Linda S. Brown Walk for a Cure 2023 was held Saturday, October 14, for the fifth year-in-a-row. Brown served as principal at the Allen Parish Alternative School until her health declined. She died on October 14, 2012, at 56 from her battle with cancer. Her children (one son, Joseph Lynn Brown, and daughters, Susan Allison, Stephanie Ledet and Staci Brown) continue the walk, which funds a scholarship, in honor of their mother each year.
