Two honorees of this year’s fair have been named. The Grand Marshal of the Fair will be Syble Ryder. The fair is being dedicated to the memory of Carol Guillory for the year 2023.
Ryder
Syble Ryder is married to Fred Ryder and they have two children, Falon Ryder and Jake Ryder.
Ryder is an ARDC supervisor at the Allen Correctional Center. Syble has been the secretary of the fair association since 2007. She enjoys traveling, gardening, listening to music and spending time with family and friends. During fair week, one might say that Ryder lives there. She has been at the fairgrounds from early in the morning until closing time the entire time the fair is underway for the past 16 years making sure everything is going smooth and to answer any questions anyone would have. The Allen Parish Fair has always held a special place in her heart.
“We are pleased to announce Syble as the 2023 Grand Marshal,” announced members of the fair association.
Guillory
The Allen Parish Fair Association announced this year’s fair is dedicated to the memory of Carol Guillory.
Guillory was a long time friend of the Allen Parish Fair. She was an expert in the poultry barn, where she worked each year making sure the poultry was entered in the correct classification. Most people do not even know the breeds of their poultry and would just bring them in because “Ms. Carol” would always know what they were.
Guillory was a Baptist by faith and a graduate of Fairview High School. She also attended two years of college. Guillory served the Allen Parish Sheriff’s Office for over 21 years and served as a member of the Allen Parish Jury Commission for the past seven years. She served as a dispatcher, dispatch supervisor and 911 director.
Just like when she was at the fair, Guillory always served with a smile and laughter. She enjoyed farming, gardening and raising animals. She was a big part of the Allen Parish Fair, and she will be greatly missed.
