Allen Parish has new royalty with the crowning of a royal court this past weekend to represent the Allen Parish Fair, which will be held October 11, to October 14, at the Oberlin Civic Center and grounds.
The pageant, under the direction of Equilla Victorian, began early Saturday morning, September 9, with the younger royalty.
Calie Wilson, daughter of Jesse and Shiann Wilson, was crowned Baby Miss Allen Parish in the zero to 11 months division.
In the Tiny Miss Allen Parish division, Logynn Rae Woods, the 20-month-old daughter of Kristen Woods won. Her grandparents are Rhonda and Byron Woods.
Three-year-old Aubrey Gordon was crowned Toddler Miss Allen Parish. She is the daughter of Gabrielle Gordon and granddaughter of Kathleen and Gilbert Leger.
Petite Miss Allen Parish is Camille West, age four. She is the daughter of Trevor and Bri West. She is the granddaughter of Mark and Cindy Horton and Jeff and Shaunda West. This division was for four to five year olds.
Little Miss Allen Parish Faith Raine Haymon won the six to eight-year-old division. She is the seven-year-old daughter of Brittany and Jered Haymon.
Josie Sinclair Williams, 11, was crowned Deb Miss Allen Parish. She is the daughter of Cody, and Cindy Williams. This was the nine to 12-year-old division.
Gabrielle Gordon, 24, daughter of Kathleen and Gill Leger was named Ms. Allen Parish. She also is the granddaughter of Ella Mae and Andrus Frilot.
The evening pageantry named the Jr. Miss and Miss Allen Parish queens.
Jr Miss Allen Parish
Outgoing Jr. Miss Avery Williams crowned her successor Samantha Kate Deshotels, 2023 Jr. Miss Allen Parish. Deshotels is the daughter of Sherrie and David Deshotels. Her grandparents are Beverly Thomas and the late Baron Thomas, Carolyn Deshotels and the late Erroll Deshotels and the late Will and Jackie Deshotels.
A ninth grader, Deshotels enjoys cheering at Kinder High, skiing, hip hop, tumbling, track, 4-H, Interact Club, Student Council, showing livestock, wakeboarding and basketball. She has won awards as a “Teacher’s Pick,” for her student council activities, honor roll and 12 years in dance.
Deshotels’ court consisted of the following:
•Seventh place went to Jacey Hoffpauir, daughter of Heather Doyle Hoffpauir and Doyle Hoffpauir. A freshman at Kinder High, she is the granddaughter of Tereasa Doyal and Oswal Doyal and Renell Hoffpauir and Poncho Hoffpauir. She enjoys competitive dance, driving tractors, cooking and baking. She received Platinum, first in category and second overall in teen small groups at nationals in Pensacola, Florida, with her dance competition group. Her personal routine also received third overall in the Battle of the Champions.
•Sixth place went to Mali Layne Rodriguez, a freshman at Oberlin High, and daughter of Chris Rodriguez and Kelsey and Dylan Darbonne. Her grandparents are Diedra and the late Bruce Rodriguez, Greg Savoy, Trina Klein, Wendy Will and Pauline Langley. Her hobbies include dancing, cheering, doing pageants, talking on the phone, hanging out with friends and family and going hunting with her dad and cousins. Her awards include competing in this contest, Eighth Grade Student of the Year nominee, ninth grade student class representative and Helen Gordon School of Dance Competition team member and staff member.
•Fifth place went to Kyrstin Cottongin, daughter of Ashley Wilson and Corey Cottongin and granddaughter of Marvin and Charlie Cottongin and Verona Cole. She is a sophomore at Kinder High. She enjoys reading, writing, dancing, photography and competing in pageants. Her awards include honor roll for 10 years, Jr. Miss Find a Cure and Miss Little Bunny.
•Fourth place went to Kennedy Elis Jackson, a sophomore at Oakdale High. She is the daughter of Cynthia A. Jackson. Grandparents are Shirley Kennedy and Edward Ledguies. Her hobbies include spending time with family and friends, going to church and reading and practicing with her flag and rifle. She also enjoys visiting museums, zoos and aquariums and watching and listening to Broadway musicals. She has a GPA of 3.8. She was named the Most Spirited for the Class of 2026. She has been recognized as Most Outstanding Elite-Mixed Colorguard, regional and state placing attorney for mock trial and regional placing colorguard member. She was chosen delegate for the 20th Quadrennial meeting of the African Methodist Episcopal Church to represent Louisiana and Mississippi.
•Third place went to Tatum Paige Bazinet, daughter of Mickey Bazinet and Jordan Unkel. The eighth grader at Kinder Middle is the granddaughter of Michael and Leia Bazinet, Colleen and Bobby Morgan and Michael Unkel. Her hobbies include cheering, tumbling, softball, pageants, hunting and babysitting. Her awards include A-B Honor Roll, accelerated reader, Teacher’s Choice Award and nomination for All-American cheerleader.
•Second place went to Sophie Bruchhaus, daughter of Donnie and Billie Bruchhaus. She is a ninth grader at Kinder High and the granddaughter of Donnie Sr. and Jeanie Bruchhaus and Mona and Keith Daigle. Her hobbies include showing swine, running and working out, spending time with friends and family in the show barn and Bible studies with her brother. Her awards include Eighth Grade Student of the Year, Area III Jr. Vice President in FFA, Class C State Champion 800 meter and Reserve Overall Grand Champion Louisiana Bred Barrow at the state livestock show. She also is an honor roll student.
•First place, or runnerup, went to Brynlee Perry, a ninth grader at Fairview High. She is the daughter of Clay and Stephanie Perry. Her grandparents are Steve and Rose Fontenot, Randy and Colleen Sonnier and Juan and Michelle Perry. She enjoys showing livestock, sports and singing. Her awards include numerous academic and livestock awards.
Other awards given during the Jr. Miss Allen Parish was Most Photogenic Tatum Bazinet. Miss Congeniality went to Sophie Bruchhaus. The Director’s Award was given to Brynlee Perry and Sophie Bruchhaus. The Interview Award went to Brynlee Perry.
In the ad awards, the top sellers were Mali Rodriguez, $310; Jacey Hoffpauir, $322.50; Tatum Bazinet, $537.50; Sophie Bruchhaus, $595; and Kennedy Jackson, $690. The People’s Choice Award was Sophie Bruchhaus with $113.

Miss Allen Parish
Lexie Noelle Sonnier was crowned 2023 Miss Allen Parish by 2022 Miss Allen Parish Maurie Grace Dickey during pageantry ceremonies. She is a senior at Kinder High School and the daughter of Byron and Charity Sonnier. Her grandparents are Mona Ortego and the late Jimmy Ortego and the late Foster and Esther Sonnier.
The new queen enjoys Bible studying at St. Philip Neri in Kinder. She likes dancing, cheering and volunteering at youth and teen retreats.
Her court consisted of the following:
•Sixth place went to Katelyn Prudhomme, daughter of Kevin Prudhomme and the late Dawn Prudhomme. Her step-mother is Stacy Johnson. A senior at Oberlin High School, she is the granddaughter of Irma and Dennis Prudhomme, Samantha Spears, Kevin and Roxy Prudhomme, Steven Stelly and Christy and Doug.
•Fifth place went to Rianna Williams, a senior at Oakdale High. She is the daughter of Myra George and Richard Williams and granddaughter of Ruffin George Jr. and June George and Bobbeye Williams.
•Fourth place went to Sophie Sansuz, daughter of Kodie Fontenot and Cemal Sonsuz. A junior at Oberlin High, she is the granddaughter of Teresa Fontenot and Winkie Fontenot.
•Third place went to Kaylea Thompson, daughter of Josh and Kristy Thompson and granddaughter of Randy and Becky Martin, Willie Thompson and Jimmie Chiasson. She is a senior at Fairview High School.
•Second place went to MaKenna Lavan, a junior at Oberlin High. She is the daughter of Melanie Brown and Kendrick Lavan and granddaughter of Elmira and Alfred Lavan and Marvie Brown.
•First place, or runner-up, went to Reese Willis, daughter of Lee and Hailey Jeziorski. She is a senior at Oakdale High School. Her grandparents are Tommy and Nelda Ballard, Jenai Ballard, Gene Willis and Elizabeth Jeziorski.
Other awards included Miss Photogenic Lexie Sonnier. Rianna Williams was named Miss Congeniality. The Director’s Award went to MaKenna Lavan and Sophie Sansuz. The Interview Award was given to Sophie Sansuz.
In the ad awards, top honors went to Katelyn Prudhomme, $326.50; Kaylea Thompson, $515; Lexie Sonnier, $550; and MaKenna Lavan, $830.50. The People’s Choice was won by MaKenna Lavan for $106.
