The Allen Parish Pageant will be held Saturday, September 9, at the Oberlin Civic Center at 9 a.m. beginning with the children’s pageantry. Doors will open at 6 p.m. for the Miss and Jr. Miss pageantry, which will begin at 7 p.m.
Crowns will be presented to the youth throughout the day before the Deb Miss, Ms. Allen Parish, Jr. Miss Allen Parish and Miss Allen Parish pageants are held.
Seven ladies are seeking the Miss Allen Parish title. They are McKenna Lavan, Katelyn Prudhomme, Lexie Noelle Sonnier, Sophie Sonsuz, Kaylea J. Thompson, Rianna Williams and Reese Willis.
Lavan
Lavan is an 11th grader at Oberlin High School. She is the daughter of Melanie Brown and Kendrick Lavan. Her grandparents are Elmira and Alfred Lavan and Marvie Brown.
Her hobbies include spending time with family and friends, learning new languages and photography.
Her awards include banner roll, geometry medal, Student Council Officer Award, Safe Talk Suicide Awareness certification, Phython (programming) certification, CIW certifications (all three certifications), All American Cheerleader Award (five years in a row), cheer captain’s award (two years in a row), Cheer Best Dancer Award (two years in a row), Safety First Cheer Award, Superior Cheerleader Award (five years in a row) and Student Council State Photography (second place award).
Prudhomme
A senior at Oberlin High School, Katelyn Prudhomme is the daughter of Kevin Prudhomme and the late Dawn Prudhomme. Her step-mother is Stacy Johnson. Her grandparents are Irma and Dennis Prudhomme, Samantha Spears, Kevin and Roxy Prudhomme, Steven Stelly and Christy and Doug.
She enjoys Muay Thai, catch wrestling, creative writing, reading and dancer.
Her awards include first place at the District Literary Rally in health. She has excelled in reading and has won a creative story award.
Sonnier
Lexie Noelle Sonnier attends school at Kinder High where she is a senior this year. Her parents are Byron and Charity Sonnier. Her grandparents are Mona Ortego and the late Jimmy Ortego and the late Foster and Esther Sonnier.
She enjoys Bible studying at St. Philip Neri in Kinder. She likes dancing, cheering and volunteering at youth and teen retreats.
Awards include All American for cheering, Jr. Miss Kinder, Beta’s vice president at Kinder High and is an officer on the student council at Kinder High.
Sonsuz
Sophie Sonsuz is a junior at Oberlin High School. She is the daughter of Kodie Fontenot and Cemal Sonsuz. Her grandparents are Teresa Fontenot and Winkie Fontenot.
Her hobbies include tumbling, dancing, softball and spending time with friends and family. She is a member of Beta, 4-H and Saint Joan of Arc’s youth group.
Her awards include All American Cheer in 2020, 2021 and 2022. She was Halloween Cutie in 2022 and Junior Miss Spring Festival in 2023.
Thompson
A senior at Fairview High School, Kaylea Joshlyn Thompson is the daughter of Josh and Kristy Thompson. She is the granddaughter of Randy and Becky Martin, Willie Thompson and Jimmie Chiasson.
Her hobbies include cheerleading, reading, singing and shopping.
Her awards include the Cheerleading Scholastic Award, Junior Homecoming Maid for 2023, president of Fairview Jr./Sr. 4-H Club and 2018 Deb Miss FHS.
Williams
Rianna Williams is a senior at Oakdale High School. She is the daughter of Myra George and Richard Williams. Her grandparents are Ruffin George Jr. and June George and Bobbeye Williams.
Her hobbies include online shopping, baby-sitting and hanging out with friends and family.
Her awards include Cheerleader of the Year.
Willis
A senior at Oakdale High School, Reese Willis is the daughter of Lee and Hailey Jeziorski. She is the granddaughter of Tommy and Nelda Ballard, Jenai Ballard, Gene Willis and Elizabeth Jeziorski.
She enjoys shopping, hunting, going to the lake with family and hanging out with her friends.
Her awards include Cheerleader of the Year, a 4.0 GPA, 2023 Miss Oakdale, the President’s Award and the Food Service Award.
