The Allen Parish Summer Reading Program will kick off from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Kinder branch on June 6, Oakdale branch on June 7, and Oberlin branch on June 8. There will be something for the whole family from programs to Kona Ice, face painting, registration and nachos.
“Travel the World-Read,” is the theme. There will be an early registration session beginning May 15.
Children
This summer’s Children’s Program will run 10 to 11 a.m. in Oakdale, 1 to 2 p.m. in Oberlin and 3 to 4 p.m. in Kinder. Events include:
•Character Day will be June 13. Participants are encouraged to dress up as their favorite character.
•Fire Trucks on June 20, and all are encouraged to bring a towel.
•Smokey the Bear will be there June 27.
•Mitch the Magician arrives on July 3.
•Geebo the Clown will be here on July 11.
•The program will close on July 17, with Dino Man.
Tweens
The Tweens’ programs will be held in Oakdale from 10 to 11 a.m., 1 to 2 p.m. in Oberlin and 3 to 4 p.m. in Kinder on two dates – June 15, and July 6. The rest of the dates will be from 10 to 11 a.m. at each branch. Programs include:
•Cake Decorating with Mrs. Michelle Colemon will be held on June 15. Tweens and Teens will be combined.
•Creating a Dreamboard will be on June 22.
•Etiquette/Booking taste will be June 29.
•Creating a Solar Oven will be another Tweens and Teen joint event on July 6.
•Paint and Switch on Canvas will be July 13.
•The program closes on July 20, with pizza and watch party.
Teens
Teens will meet from 1 to 2 p.m. at each branch except on the dates their programs are combined with the tweens. This will be in Oakdale from 10 to 11 a.m., in Oberlin from 1 to 2 p.m. and in Kinder from 3 to 4 p.m.

Adults
Adults can also enjoy summer programs with painting on canvas on June 14, from 5 to 6:30 p.m. at each location. The Upcycled Glitter Vase Craft program on June 21, will be from 3 to 4:30 p.m. A book chat on June 28, with be from 3 to 4:30 p.m. at each location.
Canning with Mrs. Deanna will be July 15, from 10 to 11 a.m. in Oakdale, 1 to 2 p.m. in Oberlin and 3 to 4 p.m. in Kinder. Don’t forget your mason jar on Mason Jar Vase Craft Day, July 12, from 3 to 4:30 p.m. The closing program will be July 19, with a classic movie from 3 to 4:30 p.m.
