The City of Oakdale is under a boil advisory that could last four to five weeks, if not a little longer. Oakdale Mayor Gene Paul said they have been working on upgrading the town’s water system for some time. At this time, the new water holding tank is about 90 percent complete, but an issue arose.
The roof on one of the older storage tanks, above the new tank, caved in recently exposing it to the elements. Paul said once this happened, the state shut it down forcing the boil advisory to go into effect until further notice.
The mayor explained this boil advisory could last four to five weeks, or perhaps longer. The new tank will have to be completed and brought online before the boil advisory can be lifted. Paul said they will keep residents notified of any changes as construction moves forward. He said they are working with the state and the town’s engineers to complete the new storage tank as quickly as possible.
“We apologize for the inconvenience but are looking forward to having the upgraded tank,” Paul said as he thanked everyone for their patience.
