The Reeves Council had a quick meeting Monday, April 3, which ended with a visit from Jerrie LeDoux, community liaison with U.S. Representative Mike Johnson’s office.
LeDoux told council members she was just visiting to check on them and make sure there wasn’t anything they needed from Johnson’s office. She wanted to remind them his staff were always welcoming and readying to assist the village with its needs.
Council members did learn under old business, the Allen Parish Community Healthcare, located in Kinder. The hospital has been working on moving a clinic to Reeves for several years. They are currently waiting on permits to make the move.
Chad Guidry, village attorney, revised the resolution petitioning for alcohol sales to be allowed in the village to meet the guidelines set by the state. This will be on the November ballot, and if residents approve the sale of alcohol, a businessman wants to build a gas station in the village. The nearest gas station to the village is in Kinder or DeQuincy.
There were no comments from the public. The financial report and previous month’s minutes were approved by the council. All were present.
