The Louisiana Office of State Fire Marshal is conducting an investigation into the two fires in Reeves last week, which have been deemed to have been set intentionally.
Ashley Rodriguez with the department explained once both fires were established as intentionally set, an investigation began, and marshals are still actively working the case.
Last week Reeves Fire Chief Michael Dotson Jr. reported the department battled two house fires on Monday, January 9, both located on Emma Avenue – a brick structure and mobile home. He said the structures were engulfed when firefighters arrived at about 9:01 a.m. He said the fires were suspicious in nature since no electricity existed in either location.
No injuries were reported. The fires were extinguished about 11 a.m., and Reeves received assistance from Kinder, Coushatta and Fire District Two in Beauregard Parish. Then, the investigation was turned over to the fire marshal’s office.
