The grand opening of the new Allen Parish Community Healthcare was held Thursday, January 12, at 4:30 p.m. The 8,721-square-foot addition to the hospital’s grounds will change the look of rural healthcare. There are 17 exam rooms and six primary care providers. Patients will now be able to access services with appointments and walk-ins from 7:30 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays. This is the completion of the first phase of the hospital’s five-year-plan to upgrade and rebuild services like emergency services, surgical care, specialty care and behavioral care. Chief Executive Officer Jackie Reviel was on hand for the ribbon cutting. She was excited to see the first phase of the project completed. As construction continues and the hospital sees growth, residents of Kinder and the surrounding communities will have access to the above services, as well as a new GI suite for general surgeries, a pharmacy, full service lab, new dietary kitchen, etc. The final phase of the project will include the expansion of behavioral health services and the construction of a 24-bed unit complete, along with new dining facilities and a physical therapy area. Members of the community attending the grand opening included Representative Dewith Carrier, Mayor Wayland LaFargue, members of the Chamber, hospital board and employees, as well as other leaders in the community.
