Allen Parish’s Seth Storer and his new band just dropped their first single, “Heart of a Fool.”
The lyrics tell a story of a broken heart…
You always said I was your Prince Charming; First deal of many lies
I fell for them hook, line and sinker; So you never needed any alibi
I tried to give you everything you wanted; But all that sparkles looses shine
I guess you can’t buy happy-ever-after after all
God knows I tried; Cause I thought all love was a fairy tale
And I loved you like nobody else.
Storer, the father of three daughters, said the idea for the song came from watching Disney™ movies one day with his kids. “That night I decided to take a bunch of fairy tale, Disney™ ideas and write a sad song. The next week I set up a write with David Banning and we finished up.”
Storer then recorded the song with his new band, Whiskey-Chitto Ramblers. Yes, he said, “It was just a play on words inspired by the river. We came up with it on the way to a show at the Lost Frontier RV Park in Hemphill, Texas.”
The band consists of Storer with Kenneth Smith, fiddle Kinder; Jordan Pickle, guitar and backing vocals, Kinder; Alex Smith, drums, Oberlin; Pierce Breaux, guitar and backing vocals, Sulphur; and John Mouton, bass, Iowa.
“We are all pumped with how the single came out and excited to start the radio promotional process,” Storer said. “I am very excited about the new band – having two veteran musicians like Kenneth Smith and John Mouton on board has been very beneficial. I have known Jordan since we were little and I knew he played guitar and has percussion experience so that was an easy fit. I met Pierce through Casey Peveto, one of our RBM artists and I have been working with him as his manager for two years. Now he is a younger singer who plays lead guitar with a lot of potential. Alex and I live in the same town so it was meant to be when I learned he played drums.”
Storer explains, “This is the first single off a future album that will include new originals we are currently working on and some covers of some of the our favorite songs.”
For now, fans can listen to them on stations like KBON, the Mustang, Pure Country and Gator 99.5. There are also radio stations in Texas playing the tune. You can also see them in person like at The Back Porch in Lake Charles on January 7, and at Yum Yums in Oakdale on January 28. Of course they are streaming on platforms like iTunes, Apple music, Spotify, Youtube to name a few, Storer said.
Storer is married to Aerial. The couple have three girls, Everlee, Stella and Millie, and will celebrate 11 years of marriage on April 28. He is the son of Bill and Jackie Storer and a 2007 graduate of Kinder High. He was disciplinarian at Kinder Middle and coached football and track at Oberlin High last year, but this year, he took a job as an assistant principal at Iowa High School.
“It was a hard decision,” he said, but it was an opportunity he couldn’t pass on.
With work and a busy home life, Storer manages to play three to four shows a month from east Texas to Baton Rouge. He’s also co-owner of Red Barn Music, an artist management and development company. He’s also written songs and worked with some of the state’s up-and-coming artists like Ashton Dupre, as well as developing his own musical career.
The beat to “Heart of a Fool” will keep your foot tapping and the words flowing from your own lips as you join in the group’s vocals on the song.
