During its meeting Monday, November 7, the Allen Parish Police Jury adopted a resolution to perform work on low-traffic roads in low-to-moderate income areas in Ward 2. Funding for the work will come from the Louisiana Community Development Block Grant (LCDBG) program.
The roads are Silk Stocking, Navajo, Cherokee, Linton Thomas Road and Truman Road.
Jacob Dillehay, parish engineer, said if the police jury will agree to pay the engineer and administrative fees, then it will get additional points in the selection process. “This would come out of the Ward 2 Road Budget,” he explained. “It would cost Ward 2 $170,000 in engineering and administration, but if it’s funded and they pay that money, the police jury would get $800 ,000 in asphalt to asphalt the roads.”
In other business, the police jury:
•Called for a public hearing to adopt the 2023 budget.
•Approved to advertise for six month bids.
•Approved to accept the resignation of Eric Kuyper from the Fire District #4 Board effective December 31.
•Appointed Logan Hamilton to the Southwest Allen Parish Water Board.
•Appointed Rusty Reeves to the Recreation District #6 Board.
•Approved hiring Elmer Chapman Jr., Kabe Seal, and Ricky Prudhomme for Solid Waste contingent upon meeting hiring requirements.
