The Kinder girl’s basketball team continues its blazing start.
Kinder defeated Grand Lake 73-35 last Tuesday as Tanyjah Plumber led the Yellow Jackets with 24 points, seven steals, five assists and three blocks. MacKenzie Joseph added a double-double with 21 points and 13 rebounds. Aaliyah Tahahwah chipped in 14 points and Megan Fuselier scored 12 points in the win.
Kinder then defeated Iowa with a 67-39 victory on Monday night. Tahahwah led the way with 24 points, seven steals and seven rebounds. Plumber had 19 points with six rebounds and three steals. Joseph meanwhile had 17 points and 22 rebounds.
In five games this season, Kinder (5-0) has outscored its opponents 360 to 158.
REEVES
The Reeves girls took down teams from Class 4A and 5A at last week’s North Vermilion Tournament.
Reeves opened up the tournament with a 58-39 win over Teurlings Catholic. Maddi Ford scored 15 of her game-high 25 points in the first half, while Laine Richard added 14 points.
Reeves (8-2) followed that up with a hard-fought 49-46 win over Southside High. The Lady Raiders had three players score in double figures and all three came up big in the fourth and final quarter.
Richard drained three three-pointers in the fourth and led Reeves with 14 points. Ford had 12 points and Hope Cauthron scored eight of her 12 points in the fourth.
OBERLIN
The Oberlin Tigers finished off the Singer Tournament with a 56-33 victory over host team Singer. With the win, Oberlin improved to 4-0 on the young season.
ELTON
The Elton girls picked up their first wins of the season at the Singer Tournament with a 60-39 win over Hackberry and followed that up with a 46-42 win over Starks. With the wins, Elton improves to 2-2 on the season.
