set in Kinder
Kinder will observe Hometown Holidays on Saturday, December 4, at 10 a.m. The day begins with booths being set up at 9 a.m. and opening at 10 a.m. There will be over 30 booths set up downtown.
The annual Christmas parade will be at 10:30 a.m. Lineup will begin at 9:30 a.m. at Lambert Park. The grand marshal this year is 2021 Miss Louisiana Julia Claire Williams.
Lunch starts at 11 a.m. Santa pictures will be taken from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Rosie’s Dance Center will perform at 11:30. There will be pony rides, a petting zoo, kids games and crafts for the young ones.
Zack Fontenot will be providing DJ services for the event.

Reeves planning
‘Jingle and Mingle’
“Jingle and Mingle” in Reeves will be Friday, December 3. Please join your elected officials, fire department and the recreation and water boards for the annual Community Christmas Celebration at 6 p.m. at the Recreation Park. There will be seafood and chicken and sausage gumbo, hot chocolate, holiday apple cider, desserts, Christmas music and an appearance from Santa Claus.
Elton’s Christmas parade set
The Jeff Davis Parish Tourism announced the Elton Christmas Parade will be Saturday, December 4, at 6 p.m. This will be a first as the town celebrates “Light the Night.” There will vendors and things for the family to do on Main Street along with the start of the annual Christmas Parade at 6 p.m. For more info, the event contact is: Kesia Lemoine, 337-526-1461.
Oakdale planning
Christmas Festival
Plans for the Christmas Festival in Oakdale are underway.
The Oakdale Chamber of Commerce is sponsoring Holiday Dazzle on Main from 5 to 8 p.m. on Thursday, December 9. Those wishing to participate will receive a special light bulb to designate they are participating in the holiday event.

The deadline for businesses in Oakdale, Oberlin and Elizabeth to participate in the decorating contest is December 1. All windows must be completed by December 5th. If you require a night judging due to lighting, please be sure to indicate that information. The judging will be done on December 6. Winners will be announced on December 11, during the Christmas Festival Day’s activities. First, second and third places will be given.
Events for the Christmas Festival Day to be observed Saturday, December 11, are still being finalized. Volunteers are sought for entertainment purposes. The event is usually observed from 10th Street (Mowad Civic Center) to the Sixth Avenue intersection and then to the high school. Vendors, entertainers and other events will begin setting up as early as 8:30 a.m. The theme this year is “Christmas on the Bayou.”
There will be a kid barrel train ride along with demonstrations from Kenson Ryu Karate at 11 a.m. and Helen Gordon School of Dance at 2 p.m.
The annual Christmas parade will be Saturday, December 11, at 4 p.m. Lineup will be at 2:30 p.m. Dr. Patrick Savoy, M.D. is the grand marshal of the parade.
Fireworks will begin at 6 p.m. The concession stand will open before the fireworks at Curtis T. Memorial Football Field with gumbo, nachos and drinks for sale.

Elizabeth
The annual Christmas in the Country in Elizabeth celebration will be observed Saturday, December 4. For more information, please email rickykristybrown@aol.com.
The day includes vendors, music and food trucks. The celebration opens at 8 a.m.
There will be an Arts and Crafts Festival. Interested persons in renting a booth or learning more should contact Ricky Brown at 318-491-1797 or email him.
Lineup for the parade starts at noon at the high school. The parade rolls at 2 p.m. Parade marshals are Marlene and Noah Cloud.
This is also Homecoming Week for Elizabeth High School alumni with the basketball game being held Friday, December 3.
The annual gumbo cookoff after the parade will not be held this year.
