A Houston man is facing several drug charges after a traffic stop in Oakdale netted narcotics valued over $100,000 on the streets, including marijuana, ecstasy, methamphetamine, heroin and amphetamine.
Police Chief Chad Doyle said officers with the Oakdale Police Department stopped a 2008 Chevrolet Tahoe, northbound on U.S. 165 for a traffic violation on Friday, October 8.
“Upon making contact with the single occupant, the officer smelled a strong odor of marijuana coming from the vehicle,” Doyle said. “The driver consented to a search of the vehicle. As a result officers located concealed within the vehicle the following narcotics.”
Doyle said officers discovered 7.3 grams of marijuana, 1,355 of Ecstasy tablets, 79 grams of methamphetamine, 72.9 grams of heroin and 500 grams of synthetic marijuana. The estimated street value is over $100,000 dollars, according to the chief.
As a result of this find, officers arrested and charged Ricky Valdez Gee, 46, of Houston Texas, with four counts possession of CDS (Schedule I) with intent to distribute (marijuana and ecstasy), two counts possession of CDS (Schedule II) with intent to distribute (methamphetamine and amphetamine), possession of CDS (Schedule III) with intent to distribute (heroin), improper tail lights, possession of drug paraphernalia, driving under suspension and possession of a Legend Drug.
Gee was transferred to the Allen Parish Jail for further processing.
