The September tax collections report indicates that parish collections continue to hold steady through 2021 when compared to the same time frame in 2020. The only negative collection reported was in the Town of Oberlin.
Oberlin was only five percent down in sales collected when compared to the report given last year for the same time period. Oberlin’s collections $17,391.84 compared to $18,332.12 collected in 2020.
As in previous months, the school board, police jury and sheriff’s collections continue to show increases each month. And this month, the communities of Kinder, Elizabeth, Oakdale and Reeves all indicated growth in comparisons to last year’s report during the same time period.
The Allen Parish School Board #1 and #2 collected $555,759.04 last month, which was $112,050.93 more than the previous year. The Allen Parish School Board #3 collected $277,879.27 for an increase of $55,891.33 over the last year, while the police jury collected $194,515.81 for an increase of $39,123.86. The sheriff’s collections totaled $277,879.24 for an increase of $55,891.34 from the previous year.
Other big collections included the Allen Parish Occupancy Tax ($6,571.35 for an increase of $2,175.13); Allen Parish Tourist Commission ($19,714.14 for an increase of $6,525.52) and Kinder’s library/sewage ($16,884.10 for an increase of $3,721.59).
And to round out the report, the following communities collected: Kinder – $56,280.14 for an increase of $12,404.97, Elizabeth – $9,282.62 for an increase of $2,397.43, Oakdale – $132,277.11 for an increase of $20,870.32 and Reeves – $3,971.09 for an increase of $770.59.
The parish’s total collections for the month on the report was $1,568,405.75, which was $310,882.73 more than the previous year during the same time frame last year.
