Three communities saw some decreases in June’s sales tax collections according to the July 2021 report compiled by the Allen Parish School Board Sales and Use Tax Department.
Oberlin saw a 35.67 percent decrease of collections when compared to last year’s collections during the same time frame. Elizabeth saw a 31 percent decrease, and Reeves saw a 8.10 percent decrease. The communities received $20,155.31 in Oberlin (compared to $31,331.97 in July of 2020), $9,608.99 in Elizabeth (compared to $13,926.29 in July of 2020) and $4,178.35 in Reeves (compared to $8,976.96 in July of 2020). In the June 2021 report, Reeves was the only community in the parish to see a decrease of 7.26 percent collections when compared to the June 2020 report, which was conducted during the same time frame. (The town collected $2,604.59 in June of 2021 compared to $2,808.47 in June of 2020.)
The other government agencies in the parish continued to show growth in the July report of collections with the school board’s accounts growing 15.06 and 15.08 percent (Number 1 and 2 collected $644,139.35 in July 2021 compared to $559,736.68 in July 2020. The board’s Number 3 account collected $322,0119.63 in July 2021 compared to $279,878.50 in July 2020.) The police jury grew 15.06 percent collecting $225,414.65 in 2021 compared to $195,915 in 2020.
The other communities also saw increases including Kinder (19.13 percent – $70,253.99 in July 2021 to $58,971.41 in July 2020) and Oakdale (4.49 percent – $135,541.28 in July 2021 to 129,715.44 in July 2020).
