BTS BRIEFS
KES to register
On Monday, July 26, registration began for the 2021-22 school year at Kinder Elementary School. It will continue from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 9 to 11 a.m. on Fridays. The first day is Thursday, August 12.
KMS preparing for new year
Kinder Middle School is preparing for the start of the new school year on Thursday, August 12.
School fees for the year are $35 per student. This includes $25 for supplies and $10 for assessment fees. This will cover the cost of all supplies for the school year. Once the fees are paid the supplies will be given to the students at school.
New student registration will begin Wednesday, August 4. Students coming to fifth grade from KES are already registered.
Don’t forget to update students’ information by gong to the Student Progress Center and updating addresses, phone numbers and emails. This information is needed to ensure timely correspondence during the summer months.
Remember KMS will use the JCall Communication system for announcements and events that are happening at school. Please make sure the office has a current working cell phone number for you if you would like to get the messages.
KMS to holdopen house
KMS will host an open house on Tuesday, August 10, and Wednesday, August 11, to hand out student schedules. Students will also pay fees of $35.
Fifth and sixth graders will report on August 10, from 2 to 3:30 p.m. Students in seventh and eighth grades will report on August 11, from 2 to 3:30 p.m.
School t-shirts will be available in limited quantities for $10 each.
Uniform reminders include khaki bottoms and KMS school t-shirts. No hoodie pullovers will be allowed, even on dress-down days. Jackets must feature a full zipper and remain unzipped in the building (full zip jackets can have a hood). Baseball caps are not allowed.
KHS sets orientation
Kinder High School began orientation on Wednesday, July 28, at 5 p.m. with the freshmen class.
On Friday, July 30, the rest of the classes will report for orientation:
•Sophomores at 9 a.m.
•Juniors at 10 a.m.
•Seniors at 11 a.m.
Students will need:
•A $35 Assessment Fee
•A $3 Parking Tag for all student drivers (must show proof of insurance and valid driver’s license)
•Club Membership Fees for any student wanting to participate in any club or extracurricular activities
All grades will need:
•Binder/notebook and pens/pencils
•Family and Consumer Science (FACS) Classes will need two dish towels for project.
A “Meet the Team” pep rally will be Thursday, August 19.
A booster bash will be held Saturday, August 21.
ObES plans drive-through
Oberlin Elementary School will conduct a drive-through “Meet and Greet” on Tuesday, August 10, from 3 to 5 p.m. At this time, parents will be able to pick up t-shirts, pay for t-shirts, pay for student fees and drop off supplies.
ObHS sets orientation
Oberlin High School will have orientation on Thursday, August 5.
Seventh and eighth grades will have orientation from 9 to 10:30 a.m. Ninth through 12th grades will have orientation from 10:30 a.m. until noon.
During orientation, students/parents will be able to pick up class schedules and other student information, and as well as sign IGPs. Parents must be present to sign IGPs and pick up class schedules.
Students also will be able to buy uniform shirts ($10), prepay for a 2021-2022 yearbook ($10) and pay student fees.
Fees for seniors will be $25. Fees for other grades will be $20. Students may also buy a parking pass at orientation for $5.
ObHS yearbooks are in
Oberlin High School’s 2021 yearbooks are in! If you bought a yearbook, please pick it up at school from August 2, to August 5, from 9 a.m. until noon. Extra yearbooks were ordered and are available for $15 each.
ObHS plans athlete meeting for the public
The Oberlin High Tigers will host a “Meet and Greet” at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, August 25, in the ObHS cafeteria for its football players and cheerleaders.
Reeves sets BTS meetings
Miss Megan LaFargue, principal at Reeves High School (RHS) has announced the following:
MEET AND GREET: RHS will hold a meet and greet and open house on Tuesday, August 10, from 1 to 3 p.m. Students are welcome to bring supplies and pay their fees.
KINDERGARTEN: A kindergarten orientation will be held Tuesday, August 10, at 3:30 p.m. for those students.
HIGH SCHOOL: RHS parent/guardians and students will have an opportunity to review and finalize schedules, pay fees and sign your child’s Individual Growth Plan (IGP). A parent/guardian must accompany the student to complete scheduling and sign the IGP.
Times set for parents are:
•Wednesday, August 4: 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
•Thursday, August 5: 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
•Friday, August 6: 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
Elizabeth nformation shared
Open house is on hold at Elizabeth High School due to Covid-19 because guidelines are still being determined as the State of Louisiana continues to deal with Covid-19 issues.
Students in Pre-K and kindergarten are urged to attend orientation at 6 p.m. on Tuesday, August 10.
Parents are reminded students should have fees and supplies on the first day. Those lists were sent home at the end of last year with students’ report cards, according to Nicole Rogers, principal.
Meet and Greet in Fairview
Fairview will host a Meet and Greet for students, Pre-K to eighth grade, on Tuesday, August 10, from 3 to 5 p.m. Students and parents can bring supplies and pay fees at this time.
Fairview sets orientation
Fairview High School will be hosting orientation for all high school students and parents, guardians, etc. to have the opportunity to review and finalize schedules, pay fees, sign your students’ Individual Growth Plan (IGP), discuss pathways and dual enrollment options. A parent/guardian must accompany the student to orientation to complete scheduling and sign the IGP at their preferred time on their scheduled day. It will be in the high school building on the following dates:
•Monday, August 2: Seniors from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.
•Tuesday, August 3: Juniors from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.
•Wednesday, August 4: Sophomores from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.
•Thursday, August 5: Freshmen from 8 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. and 1 to 3 p.m.
•Friday, August 6: Makeup Day from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
Oakdale Elementary reviews uniform policy
Student uniform policies for the 2020-21 School Year will be red or navy collard shirts and khaki or navy bottoms. No Crocs or open heeled/open toed sandals will be allowed. Students may still wear their OkES fundraiser shirts or “Student of the Month” shirts any day of the week.
Oakdale Middle holding orientation
Oakdale Middle will hold the following Back to School events:
ORIENTATION: Fifth graders will report to school on Tuesday, August 10, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. for an orientation meeting. Fees can be paid at this time.
DRIVE THRU – Sixth through eighth grade students will drive through on Wednesday, August 11, from 3:30 to 4:30 p.m. Schedules will be given at this time. Fees will be paid on the first day of school for these grades.
All persons must wear a mask on both days. Remember to bring your supplies and fees on the first day of school, if you have not done so previously.

Orientation set for Oakdale High Freshmen
Ninth grade orientation at Oakdale High School will be held Monday, August 9, at 5:30 p.m. in the Oakdale High School Auditorium. All new warriors are welcomed.
