Sales tax collections in Allen Parish continue to show growth monthly and yearly when comparing tax collections in 2020 to 2021.
In the month of June, the only negative collections existed in Reeves with a negative collection of $203.88 from June of 2020 ($2,808.47) to June of 2021 ($2,604.59). However the village is doing well when comparing collections on a year-to-date basis of $25,980.76 (January to June 2020) to $27,946.39 (January to June 2021).
The other communities in the parish continued to see growth in June’s collections. Kinder saw an increase of 22.11 percent with $46,203.06 in 2020 and $56,417.36 in 2021; Oberlin saw 17.26 percent with $17,010.84 in 2020 and $19,946.68 in 2021; Elizabeth saw 23.34 percent with $6,777.76 in 2020 and $8,359.94 in 2021; and Oakdale saw 5.92 percent with $118,074.31 in 2020 and $125,058.98 in 2021.
The other government agencies saw increases in June’s collections in 2021 when compared to collections in 2020. Increases included 16.80 percent for Allen Parish School Board #1 and #2 ($467,091.66 in 2020 to $545,572.69 in 2021); 16.44 percent for Allen Parish School Board #3 ($234,243.22 in 2020 to $272,763.67 in 2021), Allen Parish Police Jury ($163,970.91 in 2020 and $190,935.38 in 2021) and Allen Parish Sheriff District $234,243.26 in 2020 and $272,763.70 in 2021).
Totals for the parish in June for 2021 were $1,537,348.24, an increase of 16.31 percent compared to 2020 at $1,321,817.66. Year-to-date totals for 2021 was $10,204,897.77, a 34.8 percent increase compared to 2020’s $7,569,200.85.
